Today we are doing well. Ali has an infection which is requiring additional attention and a longer stay at the hospital (probably 1 or 2 extra days).
Bennett continues to stabilize, they are weaning him off the Nitric, and medications. They will start feeding him via his feeding tube in the next couple days (vs. intravenous nutrition). They are considering taking the arterial tubes out of his umbilical cord and replacing w/ IV's, which is progress. His postings for heart rate, saturation, and blood pressure are good. His oxygen support is going up as they wean the Nitric, which is expected.
Brooklyn had her oxygen tube (prongs) removed today! You can see her face much more clearly. She has a feeding tube and has doubled in feeding volumes three times (2 to 4, then to 8, now 12). The more volume she can digest from feedings the more they wean off the medications.
Her spinal tap did not produce the level of fluid that they were hoping for. They received some results from the lab but, without the necessary fluid to test it was difficult getting conclusive results (positive/negative). Although, from her blood work and condition they are leaning towards her not having any signs of meningitis.
Bennett can not be held yet but, Ali gets to hold Brooklyn twice a day usually for about an hour (sometimes more).
Sadie is going to her school orientation today (1 PM). Grammy D. is taking her. I will be at home tonight w/ Sadie and Mandy. I will take both of them to school in the morning. It will be Sadie's first day of 2nd grade, and Mandy is starting her school tomorrow as well. We miss them both terribly and I can't wait to get home to see them both!
Thanks for all your prayers, thoughts and support.
Prayers are being answered!
